FLORENCE, S.C. — In Florence County, Interstate 95 drivers heading over the Great Pee Dee River will lose a lane in each direction overnight early next week while state crews look over and maintain the bridges.
The South Carolina Department of Transportation plans to shut the left lane on the northbound bridge and the left lane on the southbound bridge starting Monday night, Nov. 9.
Both lanes are set to open back up on Tuesday, Nov. 10, once the routine inspection and upkeep are done.
The Great Pee Dee is one of the main rivers in the Florence area and a familiar fishing water for local anglers, and the interstate crossing is a key link for Pee Dee travelers.
SCDOT is urging motorists to slow down and stay alert while traveling through the work zone.
