FLORENCE, S.C. — Drivers in Florence who rely on the Damon Drive and Dix Lane intersection will need another way around for three days next week while a contractor works on a city sewer lift station.
The City of Florence said the intersection will be shut beginning Wednesday, Oct. 21, and will remain closed through Friday, Oct. 23. The repairs are at the Cloisters lift station, and the job has been handed to a contractor rather than city crews.

City officials are asking motorists to map out a different route ahead of time. Anyone traveling close to the work zone should slow down, stay alert and follow the detour signs set up around the closure.
The city has not said what time on Friday the intersection is expected to reopen to traffic.
