FLORENCE, S.C. — A contractor for the City of Florence began the Hoffmeyer Road sewer line repair project on Monday, Oct. 12, with overnight construction from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. to limit daytime traffic disruptions.
Traffic control will appear only where crews are actively working and will move as the job advances, Assistant City Manager Clint Moore said in the city update. Motorists should use caution and allow extra travel time. The first phase is a three-to-five-day inspection of the existing sewer main.
Preliminary plans call for about two to three excavated point repairs, then trenchless rehabilitation using either pipe bursting with high-density polyethylene pipe or an epoxy fiberglass liner. The city will release a fuller schedule after the inspection.
Florence sits in the heart of the Pee Dee region. The city anchors a healthcare-and-logistics economy and serves as the commercial hub for eastern South Carolina, so overnight utility work on Hoffmeyer Road aims to keep daytime commuting open.
Officials thanked residents and drivers for patience while crews improve sewer reliability along the corridor.
