Six colleges—Wofford College, Converse University, USC Upstate, Spartanburg Community College, Spartanburg Methodist College, and Sherman College of Chiropractic—generate a near-constant flow of lectures, performances, and athletic contests. Ticketed touring shows fill Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium and Chapman Cultural Center, which pairs theater, museum, and dance programming under one roof. The Hub City Spartanburgers play their home stand at Fifth Third Park from April through September as the High-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Summer is driven by Music On Main—Thursday nights on Morgan Square—and Friday Night Live. Red, White & Boom at Barnet Park lights up July 4th, and the International Festival returns to Barnet Park each September. Fall belongs to Wofford Terriers football at Gibbs Stadium on Saturdays from September through November, with USC Upstate filling out the Hodge Center schedule. The year closes with the Christmas in Spartanburg parade in early December.
