FLORENCE, S.C. — Unofficial midterm totals put Carol Hill ahead for Seat 8 on the Florence 1 Schools trustee board and show incumbent Gloria Bracey keeping Seat 4 after Tuesday voting.
Hill captured about 36 percent in the three-person Seat 8 field, topping Terry Law Sr. and sitting trustee Bryan Chapman, who each finished near 31 percent. Raw counts listed 1,087 ballots for Hill, 968 for Law and 954 for Chapman.
Bracey collected about 63 percent on Seat 4 against Gloria Jones at about 36 percent, or 1,741 votes to 1,009.
County election officials still have to sort write-ins and provisional ballots before anything is locked in. They plan to meet at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, to certify the canvass.
Several other Florence County trustee seats on the ballot featured unopposed candidates with near-unanimous shares, and Florence County precincts were marked fully reported in the statewide unofficial spreadsheet.
