West Florence Fire Rescue crews answered the call, and about 10 minutes later they were sent to a second, unrelated wreck on North Ebenezer Road near West Sumter Street, where a car ran off the road into a ditch. Nobody was hurt in that crash.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal collision. The bicyclist has not been publicly identified, and troopers have not said whether any charges are expected.
