FLORENCE, S.C. — The City of Florence and Duke Energy, with Naturally Outdoors, Keep Florence Beautiful and the South Carolina Forestry Commission, will host a Fall Tree Giveaway on Oct. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. on the back lawn of Naturally Outdoors at 2519 W. Palmetto Street.
Residents can pick up trees on a first-come, first-served basis. The giveaway will feature native species and varieties suited to local growing conditions. Forestry Commission representatives will discuss species, planting techniques and arbor questions.
Florence sits in the heart of the Pee Dee region. The city anchors a healthcare-and-logistics economy and serves as the commercial hub for eastern South Carolina. The city also carries Tree City USA designation for its urban forestry work.
Duke Energy Foundation has separately invested nearly $200,000 in South Carolina communities to support Main Street revitalization efforts, underscoring utility partnerships in local civic projects. Florence officials said the giveaway is meant to put more canopy back into neighborhoods ahead of winter planting season.
Location is the back lawn of Naturally Outdoors at 2519 W. Palmetto Street. Residents should arrive early; trees will be handed out until supplies run out between 5 and 7 p.m.
