Florence SC Sports — Every Game, Live — Page 8

Florence hosts a deep sports ecosystem in the Pee Dee South Carolina corridor, spanning 5 high schools and 2 college and university program. The seasonal calendar runs from the first Friday night kickoff of August through a late-spring finale. Fall drives football and volleyball under South Carolina High School League governance; winter shifts to hardwood basketball and wrestling; spring delivers baseball, softball, soccer, track, and tennis. Few Pee Dee counties match the density of competition nights per week, the breadth of classifications in play, or the decades of local rivalry that fill bleachers every season.

The local prep schools include West Florence High School (Knights), South Florence High School (Thoroughbreds), Wilson High School (Tigers), Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School (Titans), Florence Christian School (Eagles). At the collegiate level: Francis Marion University Patriots; Florence-Darlington Technical College Stingers.

The South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) classifies county schools across multiple competitive tiers, each with its own playoff bracket and state-title path. Friday Night Football anchors fall culture: lights burn on multiple county fields simultaneously, and local rivalries draw regional attention each October. Recruiting and NIL activity continue to reshape decisions at every county program.

HEREFlorence covers every layer of Florence sports: SCHSL varsity scores and playoff brackets, college game previews and standings, pro team results and recruiting and NIL news from every local program. We track the Friday night scoreboard from one end of Florence to the other, the coaching changes that reshape programs, and the student-athletes making their case for the next level. If it happens on a Florence field, court, diamond, or fairway — it’s HERE.
