FLORENCE, S.C. — In Florence, neighbors marking Domestic Violence Awareness Month can gather Saturday night for prayer and conversation on Oakland Avenue.
The program runs late afternoon into evening at the Community Empowerment Center, with the street address posted as 1113C Oakland Avenue.
Peterson, who is organizing the night, said guests from every faith background are welcome. Kelly, working alongside him, said spiritual support can help people move forward after abuse.
Volunteer network C.A.V.E. is on the lineup. Flippin-Stewart, the group’s founder, is expected to speak, with Magette and Woods also listed on the program.
Staff from the regional domestic-violence coalition based in the Pee Dee intend to hand out information on counseling, safe housing and how to get advocacy started.
That group describes itself as a Pee Dee nonprofit that fights sexual assault, household violence and child abuse and that helps victims without screening them out over race, age or disability.
