Woods Fire Contained in Loris
Horry County Fire Rescue successfully contained a woods fire in Loris on Saturday night. Fire rescue personnel responded to a reported woods fire at approximately 7:13 p.m. in the vicinity of Gause Road near Highway 139. Initially, the fire was estimated to be around five acres in size, and traffic lanes on Gause Road were blocked, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.
By approximately 9:20 p.m., the fire was fully contained, having grown to an estimated six acres. The South Carolina Forestry Commission provided assistance with two plows to establish fire break lines around the affected areas. The Loris Fire Department also assisted in the effort. Horry County Fire Rescue continues to monitor the area, and residents may observe smoke and potential flare-ups for an extended period.
