FLORENCE, S.C. — Three children walked out unharmed Friday evening after a standoff at a Laurel Lane home in Florence, and the man inside was taken into custody, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies were sent to the house on a domestic call. According to the sheriff’s office, the man had said he would hurt himself and the three children if officers showed up.
The agency’s SWAT team was called in. Sheriff T.J. Joye said the man eventually agreed to let the children go, and they came out without injury. Deputies arrested him afterward.
One account described the children as his own. The sheriff’s office has not released the man’s name or said what charges he may face.
Investigators say the case is still open and more details will come later. Any charges would go to prosecutors in the 12th Circuit solicitor’s office, which handles cases from Florence and Marion counties.
