Florence, SC – William “Terry” Thompson, a cherished member of the Florence community, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the age of 77. He died peacefully at the McLeod Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services for Thompson are scheduled to take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Chapel of Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Randy Bishop. Burial will follow at Chesterfield Cemetery. Additionally, the family will welcome friends for visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the funeral home on the same day.
Terry Thompson was born on July 11, 1947, in Hartsville, SC. He was the son of the late Bill Thompson and Cornelia Thompson Moore. He graduated from Hartsville High School in 1965 and later earned an associate degree in business from Columbia Commercial College. After his education, Thompson dedicated over 30 years of his career to Crown Cork & Seal, retiring as a valued employee.
A long-time member of Chesterfield Baptist Church, Thompson was well-known for his commitment to his faith and community. Known for his enjoyment of fishing and golfing, he found joy in simple pleasures. Most importantly, he was loved and respected as “Pa Pa” by his grandchildren, showcasing his adoring persona as a grandfather.
Thompson was preceded in death by several family members, including his wife, Pat Caulder Thompson; his daughter, Allison Leigh Thompson; an infant sister, Linda Thompson; his sister, Judy Thompson Easterling; and sisters-in-law, Peggy Caulder Harding and Penny Caulder Dixon. He is survived by his two children, Ashley Thompson (Phillip) Lowe, residing in Florence, SC, and Shannon Thompson (Josh) Sawyer of Seneca, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Abby Reeves, Ross Reeves, and Jack Sawyer. Furthermore, he is remembered by his brothers-in-law, Rev. Howard Harding of Laurinburg, NC; Phillip (Yetive) Caulder, Jr.; and Cotton Dixon, both of Chesterfield, SC, along with sister-in-law Sissy Caulder (Harold) Adams.
The family expresses their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of McLeod Hospice House for their compassionate and dedicated care during Thompson’s final days.
