Born on March 18, 1944, in the Lakeside area of Darlington County, South Carolina, Margaret was the daughter of Thelma White Jackson and Sylvester Jackson, both of whom have since passed away. Margaret’s formative years were spent in the Darlington and Florence County Public School Systems, where her talents began to shine. While attending Wilson High School, she was a talented majorette in the marching band and proudly graduated as part of the Class of 1962.
Margaret was married to Jimmy Harrison, who preceded her in death. The couple raised five children together, and Margaret is remembered as a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She exemplified dedication and love for her family, which was evident in every aspect of her life.
Professionally, Margaret built a successful career, initially at Maytag in Florence, SC, before moving on to work at the Citi Trends Distribution Center in Darlington, SC. She remained an active participant in the workforce until her retirement. Beyond her professional achievements, Margaret was known for her ability to connect with people, offering wisdom and heartfelt advice to many within her community.
Margaret’s legacy is carried on by her children: James Tyrone Harrison (married to Catherine), Leon Harrison (married to Natashia), Michael Harrison, Reeshemah Harrison, and Shena Harrison. She leaves behind eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Additionally, her memory is honored by her siblings, Thomasenia Benson (married to Charles) and Larry Jackson (married to Andrea), along with numerous other family members and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, a brother, a sister-in-law, and a niece, marking the close of a full and impactful life.
A visitation for Margaret will take place on Friday, December 27, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Smith’s Funeral Home in Florence, SC. Her funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church. Later that day, a second service will occur at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church located in Darlington, SC.
