South Carolina – Publix Super Market has announced plans to open a new location at Powdersville Plaza, marking a significant addition to the community’s shopping options. The announcement came from commercial real estate management firm Aston in a news release dated September 24, 2024. The new grocery store will be located at the northwest corner of Highways 153 and 81 and is set to occupy approximately 50,000 square feet of space in the former Bi-Lo site.

The new Publix location is anticipated to enhance the shopping experience in the Powdersville area by offering a wide array of grocery items, fresh produce, and pharmacy services. This development is part of Publix’s ongoing expansion efforts in the Upstate region of South Carolina, where it currently operates 20 stores, including two in Anderson County.

Jared Glover, the media relations manager at Publix, expressed enthusiasm regarding the opportunity to serve local customers with the new store. Similarly, Barnes Connell, managing director of Aston, welcomed Publix as an anchor tenant, highlighting the supermarket’s strong reputation for quality and exceptional customer service. Aston aims to develop vibrant, community-centric shopping destinations, and the addition of Publix signifies an important step in that direction.

In conjunction with the Publix store, the relocation of the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology to a newly constructed 13,266-square-foot outparcel is also underway. This move is intended to provide students with an improved learning environment and offers professional services at discounted prices. Garrett Shuler, vice president of the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology, noted the excitement surrounding the school’s continued presence in the Powdersville area.

George S. Dewey IV, president and CEO of Aston, reiterated the company’s commitment to investing in shopping centers throughout the Upstate region. The redevelopment of Powdersville Plaza, with the introduction of both Publix and the Kenneth Shuler School of Cosmetology, aims to enhance the overall shopping experience for local residents.

The Powdersville Plaza development represents a broader trend in the Upstate where communities have seen a revitalization of shopping hubs and increased investment in commercial real estate. With substantial previous investments in the Greenville market, including renovation projects and property acquisitions, Aston continues to strive for community-focused development that meets the needs of local consumers.

As construction of the new Publix location commences, residents of Powdersville and surrounding areas can look forward to the convenience and variety that will come with the opening of the new store. With an expected focus on customer satisfaction and quality grocery offerings, Publix seeks to establish itself as a favored shopping destination for the community.

This expansion represents not just growth for Publix but also an important milestone for Powdersville Plaza as it aims to create a more vibrant, community-oriented shopping experience. The opening date for the new Publix location has yet to be announced, but plans are already in motion to prepare the site for its future customers.
