Good morning Myrtle Beach! It seems like we’re in for a bit of a rollercoaster today, as cloudy skies have set the stage for some serious weather drama. If you have outdoor plans, you might want to rethink them. Strong thunderstorms are rolling in later today, and the forecast is predicting a high of 81°F. Make sure you grab that umbrella!
As we approach the afternoon, keep an eye on the skies. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 5:00 PM for our area. What does this mean? Well, it means conditions are ripe for some lively thunder, potential wind gusts reaching 40 mph, and even marble-sized hail making a cameo appearance. Yikes! So, if you happen to be out and about, it’s wise to seek shelter indoors to avoid any flying debris from those gusty winds.
The winds are expected to come from the southwest at speeds of 10 to 20 mph. As we transition into the evening, expect thunderstorms to continue—this time, the chance of rain will ramp up to 70% as winds shift to the west-southwest at 10 to 15 mph.
