Lexington, SC

In a somber turn of events on July 26, 2025, both Sandra J. Brock and Chad Wyatt Snelgrove, beloved members of the Lexington community, passed away on the same day. Their families have since announced plans to honor their lives and contributions with memorial services.

Details of Sandra J. Brock’s Life

Sandra J. Brock, aged 73, died at her home in Lexington. Born on December 12, 1951, in Florence, SC, she was raised in Cheraw. Sandra began her work life at the age of 14 and found her passion as a waitress at Lizards Thicket, where she enjoyed meeting new people.

She spent most of her adult life in the Columbia/Lexington area, where she developed deep connections with the community. In her later years, she experienced significant emotional pain, especially missing her late mother, Mrs. Donnie R. Griggs. Sandra is survived by her brother and sister, Rodney and Cheryl Griggs, along with several uncles and her lifelong friend, Clova Smith.

A memorial service for Sandra Brock will be scheduled at a later date. The Brock family is being assisted by the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home of Chesterfield, SC.

Chad Wyatt Snelgrove’s Legacy

Chad Wyatt Snelgrove, who was born on April 13, 1969, also passed away on July 26, 2025. Chad was a dedicated husband, father, son, and brother, leaving a lasting impact on his family and friends. He was born in Red Bank, SC, to John “Bill” and Vera Snelgrove and graduated from Lexington High School in 1987.

Continuing his education, Chad earned a degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina in 1991. He went on to marry Rhonda Snelgrove on May 20, 1995, with whom he shared three children: Hannah Story (Andrew), Zac Snelgrove, and Garrett Snelgrove. Chad dedicated nearly three decades to law enforcement, primarily with the Town of Lexington Police Department, and was an alumnus of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.

Chad is survived by his wife, children, and mother, Vera Snelgrove. He also leaves behind his siblings, in-laws, several nieces and nephews, and a lifelong friend, Rusty Manley. He was predeceased by his father and brother, Mark Snelgrove.

A visitation will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Mt. Horeb Church, followed by a memorial service at 3:30 PM.
