Florence – Francis Marion University has announced the appointment of Johnathan Munn as the new dean of its School of Business, a role he officially began in July 2025. Munn, who has been a member of the university’s faculty since 2008, previously served as the associate dean of the School of Business starting in 2016. His extensive experience and commitment to the institution are expected to strengthen the school’s educational offerings and research initiatives.
Munn’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in economics from Clemson University, earned in 2001, and a doctorate in economics from the University of South Carolina, which he completed in 2008. Throughout his tenure at Francis Marion University, Munn has taught a variety of courses, with subject matter ranging from contemporary issues in business and economic analysis to money and banking as well as urban and regional economics. His teaching has contributed significantly to the academic growth of students in the business program.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Munn was appointed the Henry Booker Sparrow Chair of Economics and Economics Forecasting in 2017, reflecting his expertise in the field. His primary research areas include regional and urban economics, innovation, and health economics, which are particularly relevant in today’s rapidly changing economic environment.
