Huntington National Bank has officially opened its first branch in South Carolina, located in Spartanburg. This full-service branch aims to cater to local banking needs and is part of a broader expansion plan in the Carolinas. The bank plans to open additional branches and create hundreds of jobs in the region. The opening coincided with a local community event, highlighting the bank’s commitment to community engagement and customer relations.

South Carolina is now home to Huntington National Bank’s first branch in the state, officially opened on May 5, 2025. The new location can be found at 172 East Main St., Spartanburg, marking a significant milestone in the bank’s expansion into the Carolinas.

This full-service branch offers a range of financial services, including tellers, personal and private banking assistance, as well as ATMs, catering to the banking needs of local customers. The Spartanburg opening is part of a larger plan that envisions approximately 55 new branches in North and South Carolina, along with the creation of over 350 job opportunities in the region over the next three years.

The opening of the Spartanburg branch coincided with The Crit, a local community bike race, which provided an opportunity for Huntington to engage with residents and demonstrate its commitment to supporting local events. Through hosting a tent at The Crit, the bank aimed to connect with cyclists and spectators, enhancing its visibility and relationship with the community.

Wes Lehrer, the Upstate market president, highlighted the importance of the Spartanburg branch in building meaningful relationships with both existing and potential customers in the area. This opening reflects Huntington’s dedication to not just providing banking services, but also becoming a trusted partner for the communities it serves.

Following the Spartanburg opening, Huntington plans to launch another branch in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, set to open on May 12, 2025. This will be followed by the establishment of a branch in Charleston later in the fourth quarter of 2025. These upcoming branches are part of Huntington’s strategic growth plan within the Carolinas, reflecting its commitment to meet the banking needs of residents in these rapidly growing states.

Huntington National Bank, a well-established financial institution, is known for its wide array of financial services, including personal banking, business banking, and investment services. Its expansion into South Carolina signals the bank’s ambition to enhance its presence in the southeastern United States, where population growth and economic development present promising opportunities for banking services.

The opening of the Spartanburg branch represents not only a significant step in Huntington’s expansion strategy but also an opportunity to provide essential financial services to a new market. The commitment to hire local employees further supports economic growth in Spartanburg and the surrounding regions, fostering community ties and contributing to the local economy.

As Huntington continues to grow, it remains focused on delivering exceptional customer service and tailored banking solutions that meet the unique needs of individuals and businesses in South Carolina and beyond. With its eyes set on further expansion, Huntington National Bank is poised to become a key player in the Carolinas’ banking landscape, potentially transforming the way locals manage their finances and interact with their bank.
