Located near Greenville, the dealership has been a fixture in the area since 1972 and has evolved significantly since Steve Crowe took over in 2002.
Initially drawn to the dealership while seeking a motocross bike for his son, Eric, Steve Crowe’s transition from the valve sales and service sector to powersports ownership was unexpected. The previous owners were planning to sell as they exited the industry, and Crowe seized the opportunity to purchase the business rather than just the motorcycle.
Upon acquiring Foothills Motorsports, Crowe appointed Jamie Willis as the general manager. Willis, who previously held a position at a competing dealership, played a pivotal role in relocating Foothills to a larger, modern facility. The new location features 25,000 square feet of showroom space and an additional 7,000 square feet for parts and service, allowing the dealership to operate as a full-service, multi-line powersports provider.
Currently, Foothills Motorsports boasts an impressive inventory of over 500 vehicles, which includes motorcycles, dirt bikes, personal watercraft (PWCs), all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and side-by-sides. The dealership carries top brands such as Can-Am, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Alta, Sea-Doo, Polaris, and Husqvarna. Its strategic location near waterways and off-road trails enhances its diverse product offerings, catering to the varied interests of customers.
Recent market trends indicate a noticeable uptick in sales of on-road vehicles and side-by-sides, while ATV sales have experienced a slight decline. However, personal watercraft sales remain robust, largely attributed to aggressive marketing strategies by manufacturers like BRP and Polaris. Overall sales at Foothills Motorsports have returned to pre-2020 levels, following a surge in demand during the pandemic.
The dealership maintains a healthy inventory, boasting a three- to six-month supply of diverse products and facing no significant inventory issues. With a dedicated team of 23 employees, Foothills fosters a culture of low turnover and emphasizes strong customer relationships to build a solid repeat business base.
