Florence, SC – Five Francis Marion University Softball Players Honored as Academic All-District Selections for 2025

Five standout members of the Francis Marion University (FMU) softball team have been recognized as selections for the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team for 2025. The honorees include Emily Konz (senior outfielder), Tallulah Civoniceva (junior first baseman), Anderson Thrower (junior outfielder), Jenna Walling (junior right-handed pitcher), and Madalyn White (junior shortstop).

Of significant note, Jenna Walling has been awarded Academic All-District honors for the second consecutive year, showcasing her ongoing academic and athletic excellence. The All-District Team honors exemplary student-athletes who excel both on the field and in their academic pursuits.

The selected finalists, particularly Konz, White, and Walling, will advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with the announcement of honorees expected in mid-June.

Individual Achievements

Emily Konz

Hailing from Lantana, Fla., Emily Konz graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in accounting while maintaining a 3.727 cumulative GPA. Her impressive credentials include:

  • Second-team D2CCA All-America honors
  • NFCA and D2CCA first-team All-Southeast Region recognition
  • First-team All-Conference accolades
  • Conference Carolinas 2025 All-Tournament Team selection
  • Academic All-Conference Team recognition for 2025
  • NCAA Division II ADA Academic Achievement Award in 2024

In addition to her academic achievements, Konz had an extraordinary season with a .430 batting average, scoring 62 runs (12th nationally) and achieving 44 stolen bases (7th nationally).

Tallulah Civoniceva

Representing Scarborough, Queensland, Australia, Tallulah Civoniceva is pursuing a major in criminal justice with a 3.903 GPA. Her performance this season includes:

  • .264 batting average
  • 30 runs scored and 30 RBIs
  • 5 doubles and 8 home runs

Civoniceva has consistently earned placements on both the FMU Swamp Fox Athletic-Academic and Conference Carolinas Presidential honor rolls.

Anderson Thrower

From Hanahan, S.C., Anderson Thrower is double majoring in biology and healthcare administration, boasting a 3.753 GPA. He has multiple accolades, having earned:

  • Two-time Academic All-Conference selection
  • Two-time NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete recognition

This season, Thrower achieved a .407 batting average, and scored 35 runs, and made notable contributions on the field.

Jenna Walling

Jenna Walling, from Johns Island, S.C., graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biology and achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her achievements this season are impressive:

  • First-team NFCA All-Southeast Region selection
  • 20-3 pitching record with a 1.88 ERA
  • School record for 4 saves and 133 strikeouts in 156 innings

Walling’s contributions have been pivotal for the team this season.

Madalyn White

Madalyn White comes from Currie, N.C. and is double majoring in biology and healthcare administration while maintaining a GPA of 3.717. Her impactful season statistics include:

  • .488 batting average (second in Division II)
  • 102 hits (program-record)
  • 34 stolen bases

White has been recognized with second-team D2CCA All-America honors and first-team All-Conference accolades.

FMU Team Achievements

The Francis Marion softball team concluded a historic season with a remarkable 53-6 record, finishing ranked second nationally and clinching their third consecutive Conference Carolinas Tournament championship. The team also reached the NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional title game, marking another milestone in the program’s history.
