The incident occurred early Thursday morning on North Irby Street and the 300 block of West Vista Street. According to local police, the shooting stemmed from a dispute related to a firearm sale.

At the scene, officers found Jai’Mere Jordan, 16, lying on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, remains in critical condition as authorities continue their investigation into the case.

In the aftermath of the incident, police arrested 20-year-old Mehki Christopher Rush on charges including murder, attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, aggravated breach of peace, criminal conspiracy, and armed robbery. Another suspect, Isiah Randell Oneal Nero, also 20, was taken into custody and faces the same charges as Rush.
