This rebranding is aimed at revitalizing the airport’s image and enhancing community involvement while stimulating local economic growth after recovering from pandemic-related challenges.
Florence, a charming city in South Carolina, is buzzing with excitement after the Florence Regional Airport has rolled out its shiny new branding designed to revamp its image and future. On a delightful Monday this past week, the airport unveiled its fresh logo and catchy slogan: “Fly Home, Fly FLO.” This is all part of the festivities during the state’s annual Aviation Week, which aims to spotlight the vital role that airports play in boosting the local economy.
The rebranding announcement took place during a lively Aviation Day celebration at the airport, where city leaders, officials, and community members gathered to soak up the spirit of change. The president of the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce shared heartfelt support for the new direction, highlighting that a change was long overdue. Everyone involved is eager to set their sights on the airport’s future.
At the heart of the rebranding effort is Executive Director Brad Beadles, who expressed that this new look truly reflects the many improvements on the horizon for the airport. With the focus on community, Beadles reiterated how essential public involvement is in shaping the growth and benefits of the airport. It seems that everyone is ready to *roll up their sleeves* and work together for the betterment of this important local hub.
Florence Regional Airport has been on a recovery journey after feeling the harsh sting of an economic downturn due to the pandemic. In the previous year, the airport successfully operated 841 commercial flights and managed to provide a significant economic impact of around $67 million. Now, with the airport revitalizing its offerings, it’s making strides to rebound even stronger.
The upcoming projects set to further uplift the airport include the construction of a new FAA tower, terminal upgrades, and essential foundation rehabilitation. Exciting endeavors are in the pipeline, as airport officials are actively on the hunt for additional airlines to increase travel options for passengers. Currently, American Airlines is the sole commercial carrier servicing the airport, so adding variety will surely bring more travelers through its doors.
About 200 enthusiastic individuals came out to celebrate during the rebranding event. Florence City Council has been made aware of the airport’s ongoing improvements, which are seen as a crucial part of the local growth strategy. The airport intends to engage even further with the community, operating as a strong participant that contributes positively to Florence’s development.
Framing this exciting transition is the launch of a new airport website, along with updated signage that aligns with the rebranding effort. The struggles the airport faced in 2020, when revenues plummeted by nearly 50% due to the pandemic and three months of inactivity, are being left behind as new strategies evolve.
With support from approximately $18 million in Cares Act funding, the airport was able to sustain its operations and retain its workforce. Now looking to the future, management has hired a consultant to help attract another airline to the airport. Furthermore, a marketing group is being engaged to promote all the fantastic services the airport provides.
Florence Regional Airport is not just changing its appearance; it’s preparing for a brighter future filled with possibilities. With a rebranding campaign that brings not only new looks but also new opportunities, the airport is truly committed to enhancing its role in the community. As the excitement builds, residents can look forward to what this vibrant hub has in store for the days, weeks, and years to come!
