With the victory, Florence advances to the state tournament scheduled for July 19-23 at Fort Mill High School. This win adds to an impressive season for the team, bringing their overall record to 15-1, with their only loss occurring earlier in the season against Aynor, finishing at 5-4.

The pivotal moment in Tuesday’s game unfolded during the bottom of the seventh inning when Chase Anderson opened with a double. Following a flyout by Derrick Austin that advanced Anderson to third base, Shannon Langston stepped up to the plate. Langston’s timely single drove Anderson home, sealing the victory for Florence.

Throughout the match, Florence demonstrated their ability to overcome adversity, trailing 3-0 at one point. Mark Law, the starting pitcher for Florence, played a crucial role in maintaining the team’s chances, allowing three earned runs, striking out five batters, and giving up six hits.
