It all began around the intersection of W. Lucas Street and N. Irby Street, when officers initiated a traffic stop on Danell’s vehicle. But instead of pulling over, Danell decided to hit the gas and flee from the police, leading to a chase that had everyone on the edge of their seats. Panic set in as the officers realized that Roderick, the passenger, was discarding large amounts of cocaine out of the window during the chase.
The chase unfolded just a stone’s throw away from two significant locations: Lola Jones Park and Williams Middle School. With children and families nearby, the pursuit raised alarms about public safety, highlighting the risks associated with such reckless behavior.
After a half-mile chase through the streets of Florence, the duo’s fleeing vehicle finally came to a halt on Buckingham Road. Once stopped, police swiftly apprehended both Roderick and Danell, bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion without further incident. Thankfully no one was injured during this high-stakes drama.
The aftermath of this wild ride is serious. Roderick Titus now faces a slew of charges, including trafficking cocaine (28 grams or more), possession of cocaine base, and distribution or manufacturing of a controlled substance near a school. As for Danell Titus, he isn’t getting off easy either. He has been charged with the same drug-related offenses as his counterpart, in addition to driving under suspension and failure to stop for blue lights. It seems that neither suspect thought about the consequences before their reckless flight.
Following the arrest, police made significant discoveries. Inside Danell’s vehicle, they seized around seven grams of cocaine. But that wasn’t all—the authorities also recovered an astonishing 60 grams of cocaine that Roderick had thrown out of the window during the pursuit. That’s a lot of illegal substances that could have found their way into the wrong hands.
As of the latest updates, both Roderick and Danell Titus remain in the Florence County Detention Center, facing the weight of multiple drug charges. Their reckless actions not only endangered themselves but also posed a very real threat to the community around them. The police response was prompt and effective, showcasing the dedicated efforts of local law enforcement in keeping the streets safe.
