Florence, South Carolina – A Florence County deputy identified as Nate Ansay has died following a vehicle collision on Olanta Highway on Tuesday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. The tragic incident took place near Blackwells Farm Road, where Ansay was driving northbound in a 2023 Ford SUV when it was involved in a collision with a GMC SUV traveling southbound.
Both the deputy and the driver of the GMC SUV were transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. Unfortunately, Sheriff TJ Joye confirmed that Deputy Ansay succumbed to his injuries shortly after the crash.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is currently conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident. Details regarding the cause of the collision have not yet been disclosed, as authorities continue to gather information.
