Florence Ann Phipps, a cherished member of the Savannah community, passed away peacefully at her home on September 10, 2025, at the age of 78. She was surrounded by the loving care of McLeod In-Home Hospice Care, which included nurses’ aides and a doctor. Florence is now reunited with her deceased family members, including her parents Bud and Ann, her brother Tony, her sister Bea, and her in-laws, Claire and Paul, as well as Bob’s sister Martha Noel.
She is survived by her husband Robert (Bob), her son Dr. Noel Phipps and his wife Dr. Michele Phipps, and four grandchildren: William, Catie, Forrest, and Parker. Additionally, Florence leaves behind her sister Mary, Michele’s mother Judy Gibbs, long-time Health Care Aide Jeanette, and numerous friends and relatives.
Celebration of Life
Two days before her passing, Florence celebrated a significant milestone in her life: her 60th wedding anniversary with Bob. The couple enjoyed a joyful breakfast filled with cake, balloons, and surrounded by family, reflecting the warmth and love they shared throughout their years together.
A Life of Contributions and Achievements
Florence Ann Phipps was born on July 12, 1947, and graduated from Texas Wesleyan College in 1965 with a bachelor’s degree in Home Economics. She had a wide array of interests that included family, music, cooking, reading, and tennis.
In her community, Florence made lasting contributions. She was a founding member of a neighborhood gourmet club, which has thrived for forty years in Savannah, creating bonds and lasting relationships through shared culinary experiences. Additionally, she devoted her time to volunteering as a first-grade teacher at St. Peter’s School, influencing and educating young minds.
Florence’s passion for music also shone through her participation in the Savannah Symphony Chorus for 35 years and the Florence Masterworks Choir for 15 years. Her love for music enriched the community and provided her with an avenue for expression and connection with others.
