Florence – Florence 1 Schools (F1S) has been awarded a total of $168,478.92 in grants for innovative educational projects as announced by The School Foundation (TSF), underlining the ongoing commitment to improve educational experiences for students in the region during the 2025-2026 school year.

The funding will support various initiatives across six schools, each aimed at enhancing different aspects of student learning and well-being. As part of TSF’s longstanding support, this funding brings the cumulative total awarded to F1S to $2,434,841.89 since the foundation’s inception.

Notable grants included are:

  • $35,000 to Wilson High School for the “Ledger Line Initiative,” which is designed to boost musical proficiency through master classes and mentorships.
  • $17,510 to Brockington Elementary School for the “Rhythms of the Palmetto” project, which explores South Carolina’s rich and diverse dance traditions.
  • $50,000 allocated to Royall Elementary for the “Making SENSE of the School Day” project, which will create a sensory room to aid students’ learning experiences.
  • $25,468.92 to the F1S Child Development programs for the “Sensory Sparks” grant focused on providing multi-sensory phonics materials for early learners.
  • $30,500 awarded for the “Blue Zones Initiative,” a district-wide effort to promote health and well-being over a three-year period.
  • $10,000 to Advantage Academy for the “Empowering Students” grant that instructs students on life skills using practical experiences like laundromat operations for those pursuing alternative credentials.

TSF is enthusiastic about the dedication demonstrated by F1S educators in their pursuit of grant funding to enhance educational opportunities for students. This funding initiative not only supports the educators’ innovative ideas but also fosters academic achievement and personal development among students.

In addition to these notable grants, TSF supports community engagement efforts, such as the MUSC Arts in Healing program, established in 2018, which aligns with the goal of enhancing community health and wellbeing through artistic expression.

Moreover, the Fellows program, a collaborative effort involving F1S, the Greater Florence Chamber of Commerce, and TSF, provides community leaders with insights into the operations of F1S. This program is entering its tenth year, further emphasizing the commitment to involve local stakeholders in the educational processes that affect students. Last week on May 7, graduation for this year’s Fellows class took place at the McClenaghan Adult Education Building, celebrating the achievements and insights gained through this valuable initiative.

Overall, the awarded grants reflect a robust investment in the educational landscape of Florence 1 Schools, aiming to improve student learning environments and support a diverse range of interests and skills, from musical education to health initiatives and early childhood development.
