Since its inception, the foundation has awarded over $2.4 million, highlighting its commitment to advancing educational initiatives in the community. This year’s funding aims to enhance programs in agriculture, art, weather science, and photography, encouraging creativity and engagement among students.
Florence – The School Foundation has announced that it will distribute $168,478.92 in grants to Florence 1 Schools for the 2025-26 school year. This funding aims to support innovative educational programs submitted by local educators as part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to enhancing learning experiences for students.
Trisha Caulder, leading the foundation’s grant committee, revealed that six distinct grants have been approved for funding. The educators from Florence 1 Schools (F1S) submitted these proposals, showcasing the dedication and creativity of local teaching staff. The foundation recognized the effort involved in creating grant applications, emphasizing the high quality of submissions from F1S educators.
Debbie Hyler, the executive director of the School Foundation, acknowledged the commitment educators show to improving learning outcomes for their students. The foundation has a history of supporting district schools, having awarded a total of $2,434,841.89 in grants since its inception. This figure underscores the long-term investment in educational initiatives within the community.
In the previous year, the foundation allocated $143,147.66 in grants to Florence 1 Schools for the 2024-2025 school year. Those funds supported five different projects proposed by educators, with a notable example being a $2,500 grant to Willow Lake School. This grant was utilized to purchase Realityworks RealCare Baby Simulators, providing students with a hands-on experience in parenting.
In addition, the Watertown Area Community Foundation distributed $9,914 in grants to local schools through its Area School Partnership Program. This initiative is designed to support innovative educational projects and has awarded nearly $75,000 since its launch in 2017 to schools located within a 30-mile radius of Watertown.
The grants awarded for the 2025 school year are intended for programs that will either be launched or expanded in areas such as agriculture, art, weather science, and photography. These grants are designed to foster educational innovation that exceeds what typical school budgets can provide. Previous funding has supported projects that included the procurement of 3D printers, robot kits, and various other educational materials that enhance student engagement and learning.
