C. Gregory “Gregg” Robinson and Will Johnson were recognized for their exceptional contributions to economic development in the region, marking a significant achievement for Florence County.

Gregg Robinson, the CEO of the Florence County Economic Development Partnership, received the prestigious SCEDA Local Economic Developer of the Year award. This honor is a first for Florence County and acknowledges the remarkable leadership and measurable impact of an economic developer within South Carolina. Under Robinson’s guidance, Florence County has witnessed impressive economic growth, totaling over $6 billion in new capital investment and the creation of more than 5,500 new jobs. His tenure has been marked by the development of over seven million square feet of new industrial and distribution space in the state.

Robinson’s leadership has been instrumental in notable project announcements, which include the establishment of the AESC Gigafactory, Amazon’s distribution center, the Asset Technology Group Corporate Headquarters, and Carter Lumber’s base in the area. As a result of these efforts, Florence County has achieved a status among the top 10 most industrialized counties in South Carolina on a per capita basis, hosting 11 international companies from nine different countries. Currently, five new industrial parks or development sites spanning over 2,000 acres are in progress, showcasing the county’s commitment to fostering growth in various industries.

Will Johnson, an economic development attorney and board member of the Florence County Economic Development Partnership, received the SCEDA Ally Award.
