Florence, S.C. – Catawba College’s baseball team defeated the University of North Carolina at Pembroke 7-5 in a neutral site matchup on Wednesday. This victory improved Catawba’s season record to 30 wins and 11 losses, showcasing their strong performance as they head into the latter part of the season.
Catawba quickly took control of the game, jumping to a 5-0 lead after just two innings. This initial surge set the tone for the remainder of the game. Highlights for Catawba included standout performances by Hunter Atkins and James Dunlap, both of whom recorded two runs batted in (RBIs) during the contest. Additionally, Matthew Connolly contributed with two hits, further solidifying Catawba’s offensive presence.
Nathan Chrismon and Logan Dyer, both key players from East and South Rowan, respectively, were instrumental in scoring two runs each. Chrismon also showcased his speed on the bases by stealing two bases, adding to the team’s overall strategy and effectiveness on the field.
