Oshatae Honreas Ashla Bethea, a 35-year-old woman, was arrested on Thursday, July 10, for attempted murder after an incident that occurred following a fight at a local nightclub in Florence, South Carolina. Bethea is accused of striking a victim with her vehicle as the situation escalated beyond the nightclub premises.
The altercation took place on June 22 at a Florence nightclub, after which it is alleged that Bethea pursued the victim to a nearby gas station. Surveillance footage captured the moment when Bethea allegedly struck the victim with her car, leading to significant legal repercussions.
The victim of the incident sustained minor injuries and was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities started an investigation, which culminated in Bethea’s arrest three weeks later. This delay was not uncommon, as law enforcement often takes time to gather evidence and review footage in cases involving violent crimes.
As a result of the confrontation, Bethea was charged with attempted murder and larceny. Court records indicate that upon her arrest, she was booked into the Florence County jail. Bethea was later granted a bond set at $10,000. Furthermore, she is under specific conditions, which include restrictions that prohibit her from returning to the site of the incident or contacting the victim and the victim’s family.
At the time of reporting, Bethea remained in custody pending further legal proceedings related to her alleged actions. The charges against her represent serious felonies that carry significant penalties under South Carolina law.

The community has seen its share of nightlife, but incidents such as this bring attention to the potential dangers that can arise in social settings. Nightclubs and bars can sometimes be hotspots for altercations, making law enforcement vigilant during peak hours of operation and closely monitoring for any signs of conflict among patrons.
The case has drawn some local attention, with community members expressing concern over the safety surrounding nightlife in the area. Law enforcement officials are expected to increase patrols during popular nightlife hours as part of a broader initiative to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
As the case proceeds through the legal system, it underscores the importance of addressing public safety and working to ensure that social interactions do not result in violence. The outcome for Bethea remains uncertain as she prepares for her court appearances, where additional details and evidence may come to light.
