The announcement marks a significant milestone in Bonds’ athletic journey, where he has excelled as a pitcher and infielder for the Richard Winn Eagles baseball team.

The Eagles baseball team has become a powerhouse in the South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA), claiming two state titles in the past two seasons. Bonds’ individual performance has been a key factor in the team’s success. During his junior year, he boasted an impressive batting average of .540, achieving 34 hits in 63 at-bats. His statistics reflect a well-rounded offensive skill set, including an on-base percentage of .659 and a slugging percentage of .984.

In that season, Bonds recorded 19 singles, 8 doubles, one triple, and also hit six home runs, totaling 30 runs batted in (RBIs) and scoring 39 runs. Notably, he only struck out eight times throughout the season, showcasing his ability to make contact and contribute to his team’s scoring efforts.

However, the Eagles bounced back dramatically, winning their next game against Midlands STEM Charter School with a score of 24-1, where Bonds excelled offensively by hitting a home run and finishing the game 4-for-4 with three RBIs.

In a subsequent matchup against Wardlaw, Bonds continued to showcase his capabilities with a two-run home run, contributing three RBIs to the Eagles’ victory of 12-7. Owen Martin played a crucial role in that game, earning the win on the mound with a strong performance of 5.2 innings and striking out nine batters.

Despite a challenging loss to Northside Christian Academy, where Bonds allowed four hits and five runs, his performance has been vital to the Eagles’ promising start. With a current record of 6-2, the Eagles are scheduled to face Providence Athletic Club and have a rematch against Northside Christian Academy, both set for a 6:30 p.m. start time.
