Florence, SC: Vehicle Fire Following Single-Vehicle Crash

A single-vehicle crash occurred on Sunday at the intersection of Stokes Road and Lilas Court in Florence, South Carolina, resulting in the vehicle catching fire. Emergency responders, including West Florence Fire-Rescue, promptly arrived at the scene to handle the situation.

Upon arrival, fire crews from Engine 241 discovered that the vehicle had struck an embankment and was engulfed in flames. Notably, the car was found abandoned, and there were no signs of injuries or occupants present at the time. The fire crews efficiently brought the flames under control and awaited the arrival of the South Carolina Highway Patrol to further assess the scene.

In a separate incident, another vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant around 11 a.m. at the intersection of Mall Road and Bob Webster Way, causing water to shoot approximately 30 feet into the air. Video footage captured the dramatic scene, showing drivers navigating around the unexpected water eruption. Authorities confirmed that despite the mishap, water service to the area remained unaffected, but repairs to the fire hydrant would require several hours.

Additionally, earlier on the same day, reports indicated a separate car fire near mile marker 171 on Interstate 95. Emergency crews responded swiftly, leading to one lane being temporarily shut down. Drivers in the area were advised to exercise caution and seek out alternate routes to avoid delays.

This series of incidents on Sunday highlights ongoing road safety concerns in the Florence area. Authorities continue to urge motorists to remain vigilant while navigating local roadways, especially during adverse conditions or following vehicle accidents.
